Butterfly and botanical print from Lepidopteres de la Belgique, leurs Chenilles et Chrysalides, by Charles Frederic Dubois. Illustrations drawn from nature by Alphonse Dubois. Tome Troisieme avec 142 Planches. Bruxelles & Leipzig: Librairie C. Muquardt, Merzbach et Falk Succrs, 1884. This hand-colored plate shows two butterfly species with their host plants, carefully drawn to depict both adult insects and associated vegetation. The collaboration between Charles Frederic Dubois and his son Alphonse produced one of the most detailed late 19th-century records of Belgian lepidoptera, combining accuracy in natural history with elegant presentation.
