Glouteron bigarre sur la Chicoree sauvage.
Glouteron bigarre sur la Chicoree sauvage.
1884
From Lepidopteres de la Belgique, leurs Chenilles et Chrysalides, by Charles Frederic Dubois. Illustrations drawn from nature by Alphonse Dubois. Tome Troisieme avec 142 Planches. Bruxelles & Leipzig: Librairie C. Muquardt, Merzbach et Falk Succrs, 1884. This finely hand-colored plate shows the “variegated glouteron” moth depicted on wild chicory (Cichorium intybus), presented in multiple stages of its life cycle. The Dubois father-and-son collaboration emphasized accuracy from life, pairing careful drawings of larvae, pupae, and adults with their host plants, creating one of the most detailed regional surveys of Belgian lepidoptera in the 19th century.
