Nacht-Vlinders van ’t Tweede Gezin der Tweede Bende. Tab. VII.
1786
From Beschouwing der Wonderen Gods in de Minstgeachtste Schepselen of Nederlandsche Insecten, by Jan Christiaan Sepp. This finely engraved and hand-colored natural history plate depicts two moths along with accompanying details of leaves, a twig, and other plant elements. Issued in the late 18th century, Sepp's celebrated work combined precise entomological study with artistic elegance, presenting insects of the Netherlands in rich detail. Tab. VII illustrates nocturnal moths of the “second family of the second order,” arranged to show their markings and natural associations, embodying Sepp's approach of blending scientific observation with refined composition.
