Issued by the American Lithographic Company, this print is from a later edition of the Louis Prang portfolio of 18 important Civil War battles. On April 4, 1864, General Sheridan assumed command of the cavalry of the Army of the Potomac, and thereafter a new order was inaugurated for the Union cavalry in the Eastern theater of operations. In September, 1864 at Opequon Creek Sheridan's infantry and cavalry achieved victory, they took the Winchester-Berryville turnpike.
