Scarce hand-colored toned line lithograph after George Catlin. Created by H. Hendrickx and E. Vermorcken for Die Indianer Nord-Amerikas by Dr. Heinrich Berghaus. This was the German edition of Catlin’s Letters and Notes on the Manners, Customs and Condition of the North American Indians. Published by Carl Muquardt, Brussels, Leipzig and Gent, 1851. The lithographs are adapted from those in Catlin’s own Letters and especially in his large 1840s portfolio.
